liquid

The main command, used to export RIB and launch renders.

Syntax

liquid [flags]

Flags

you can type "liquid -h" in a shell to get the list of flags.

-GL -useGlobals  
parse the scene's liquid globals. It should always be your first flag, so that you may override the liquidGlobals node settings with subsequent flags.

A

-acv -allCurves 
Render all nurbs curves.
-ar -aspect <String> 
aspect ratio.
-asp -archiveSearchPath <String> 
override the archive search path.

B

-bin -doBinary 
outputs the RIN in binary format.
-blt -blurTime <Float> 
scales motion blur.
-bs -bucketSize <Int> <Int> 
-btr -beautyRib <String> 
You can specify where you want your beauty rib file to be saved by specifying a fully qualified path, eg. "/job/project/shot_001/rib/shot_001_bty.#.rib". String substitution will work on the string you pass, but NO safety check will be done. If you specify a path that does not exist, it's your problem.

C

-cam -camera <String> 
the camera shape.
-cln -cleanRib 
This flag doesn't do anything. It should be removed.
-cw -cropWindow <Float> <Float> <Float> <Float> 
specify a crop window.

D

-d -debug 
Run in debug mode, which will output a lot of debugging info to stdout. (developpers only).
-db -deformationBlur 
Enables deformation blur output.
-dbs -defBlock 
Sets the deferred block size (job script).
-def -deferred 
Enables deferred rin generation (job script).
-dof -dofOn 
Enables depth of field.

E

-err -errHandler 
Enables error handling in the RIB library.
-es -eyeSplits <Int> 
Sets the eye-split distance (REYES renderers).

F

-fl -frameList <String> 
Render a comma-separated list of frames, eg. "2,4,8,16,32".
-fsr -fullShadowRib 
By default, liquid creates a RIB archive containing the scenes' geometry and re-uses it in all the shadow RIBs. This flag will force liquid to output self-contained RIB files, which will be slower and take more space.

-gs -gridSize <Int> 
Sets the grid size (REYES renderers).

L

-lr -launchRender 
Launch the render.
-lyr -layer <String> 
Specify which render layer should be rendered. If not specified, the current render layer is used.

M

-m -mbSamples <Int> 
Sets the number of motion-blur samples. Default : 2.

N

-n -sequence <Int> <Int> <Int> 
Render from start to stop every step frames.
-ndc -noDirCheck 
Force Liquid not to check if the output directories exist.
-ndf -noDef 
Disable deferred RIB generation (job script).
-net -netRender 
Use netRender (job script).
-nolr -noLaunchRender 
Disable render launching.
-nrs -noRenderScript 
Disable render script generation.
-nsfs -noSingleFrameShadows 
Disable single-frame shadows output.
-nsh -noShadows 
Disable shadow RIB output.

-pad -padding <Int> 
Sets the padding size for frame numbers.
-pd -projectDir <String> 
Sets the project directory.
-pec -preCommand <String> 
Sets the pre-frame command (job script).
-pf -pixelFilter <Int> <Int> <Int> 
Sets the pixelfilter and its size.
0  : BoxFilter

1  : TriangleFilter

2  : CatmullRomFilter

3  : GaussianFilter

4  : SincFilter

5  : BlackmanHarrisFilter

-pid -picdir <String> 
Sets the picture directory.
-poc -postJobCommand <String> 
Sets the post-job command (job script).
-pof -postFrameCommand <String> 
Sets the post-frame command (job script).
-pom -postFrameMel <String> 
Sets the post-frame MEL command.
-prf -preFrameCommand <String> 
Sets the pre-frame command (job script).
-prm -preFrameMel <String> 
Sets the pre-frame MEL command.
-pro -progress 
Outputs progress feedback during RIB generation.
-psp -proceduralSearchPath <String> 
Sets the RIB search path for procedurals.

R

-ra -readArchive 
Generates RIB archives for all geometric primitives.
-rcam -rotateCamera 
Rotates the render camera 90 degrees.
-rec -renderCommand <String> 
Sets the name of the command launching the renderer.
-rel -relativeDirs 
Turns on relative path output in the RIB.
-rem -remote 
Enables remote render (job script).
-rgc -ribgenCommand <String> 
Sets the frame ribgen command (job script).
-rgo -ribGenOnly 
Only generate the RIB files (job script).
-rid -ribdir <String> 
Sets the directory where rib files should be output.
-rmot -relativeMotion 
Activates shutter-relatives motion blocks.
-rnm -ribName <String> 
Name the rib file.
-rs -renderScript 
Generate a render script.
-rv -renderView 
render to maya's renderView.
-rvl -renderViewLocal 
render locally.
-rvp -renderViewPort <Int> 
set renderView port. Defaults to 6667.

S

-s -samples <Int> 
Sets the number of pixel samples.
-sdb -shaderDebug 
makes all surfaces without a liquid shader render constant red.
-sel -selected 
renders only selected objects.
-sfso -singleFrameShadowsOnly 
Only generates single-frame shadow RIBs.
-sh -shadows 
Activates shadow generation.
-shn -shotName <String> 
Sets the shot name. You can refer to it with $SHOT in substituted strings.
-shr -shadowRib <String> <String> 
Specify a full path for a given light's shadow RIB. The first string is the name of the light shape, the second string is the full qualified file name. example : -shadowRib "spotlightShape1" "/tmp/spot1_shadow.rib"
-shv -shotVersion <String> 
Sets the shot version. You can refer to it with $VER in substituted strings.
-sr -shadingRate <Float> 
Sets the shading rate.
-ssp -shaderSearchPath <String> 
Sets the RIB's shader search path. This string will be substituted and then output without any further checking.

T

-tif -tiff 
Force tiff output for the primary display.
-tmd -tmpdir <String> 
Sets the temp directory location.
-tsp -textureSearchPath <String> 
Set the RIB's texture search path. This string will be substituted and then output without any further checking.
-txd -texdir <String> 
Sets the texture directory.
-txm -texmem <Int> 
Sets the amount of memory used by the texture cache. Defaults to 2048.

X

-x -width <Int> 
Horizontal image size.

Y

-y -height <Int> 
Vertical image size.

Z

-zip -doCompression 
Output gzip-compressed RIB.

liquidAttachPrefAttribute

Attach __Pref / __Nref attributes to a shape.

Syntax

liquidAttachPrefAttribute [flags] <objectlist>

Flags

-ws -worldSpace 
output Pref in worldSpace. (default is objectSpace)
-en -exportN 
output Nref instead of Pref.

liquidPreviewShader

renders a shader preview.

Flags

-s -shader <string> 
you can pass the name of a shader node or a full path to a shader on disk. In the seconde case, you must also pass the shader type and it will be rendered with its default parameters.
-r -renderer <string> 
The name of the renderer. Can be found in the globals.
-dd -displayDriver <string> 
Defaults to "framebuffer". you should probably use tiff or openexr.
-dn -displayName <string> 
defaults to "liqPreviewShader".
-ds -displaySize <int> 
the size of the rendered image.
-sshn -shortShaderNames 
outputs only the shader's name in the rib, not the full path.
-nbp -noBackPlane 
black empty background instead of a state-of-the-art checker board.
-os -objectSize <float> 
size of the primitive.
-sr -shadingRate <float> 
shading rate of the primitive.
-p -pipe 
-t -type 
the shader's type (surface, displacement, etc.). only useful if you pass a full path to a shader as the -shader argument.
-sphere 
render a sphere.
-torus 
render a torus.
-cylinder 
render a cylinder.
-box -cube 
render a cube.
-plane 
render a plane.
-tea -teapot 
render a teapot.
-custom <string> 
renders a custom RIB archive. You must pass a full path to the archive file.

liquidGetSloInfo

Interrogates shaders. OBSOLETE

liquidJobList

returns the job list for your scene.

Syntax

liquidJobList [flags]

Flags

-cam -camera 
Returns the name of the beauty RIB/image file.
-d -debug 
Outputs extra debug info.
-fp -fullPath 
Returns full path file names.
-m -maps 
Returns the map file name instead of the RIB file name.
-s -short 
Returns only the filen name.
-sh -shadows 
Returns the name of the "every frame shadow" RIB files.
-shl -shadowLights 
Returns the light shapes generating shadow maps.
-ssh -singleShadows 
outputs the name of the "single-frame shadow" RIB files.

liquidWriteArchive

Writes a maya object to disk as a RIB archive.

Syntax

liquidWriteArchive [flags] <object> <path>

Flags

-b -binary 
output binary RIB.
-ct -childTransforms 
include child transform in archive.
-d -debug 
outputs extra debug info.
-rt -rootTransform 
include root transform in archive.
